Atletico Madrid 2021/22 La Liga Table. Atletico Madrid is in the middle of a transitional period with several key appointments have taken place already including new Managerially and sporting director positions, both positions now held by Pep Guardiola.

The club has not had a season to call its own and their hopes of reaching a first ever UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup success appear bleak having missed out on many opportunities to do so. However, as the new season approaches an important summer transfer window has opened which has the club one step closer to qualification for the Champions League, something that they hope will push them above many of the other sides competing for this prized European trophy.Atletico Madrid 2021/22 La Liga Table

One such chance has been their interest in Arsenal forward Lacazette and although a move for Lacazette was expected for Atletico Madrid’s first season in the competition it seems more likely that a host of other top sides including Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City will move for the France international. Having started the season with four games, Atletico Madrid only needed three wins to secure third place in the table but with the addition of Lacazette to their attacking ranks and with more goalscoring opportunities around them, Atletico Madrid appears well placed to challenge for fourth place.

Chelsea have also looked strong in the last few months of the season winning four successive matches against mid-table sides, while Manchester United has lost five of their seven matches in all competitions. Meanwhile, third-placed Manchester City has been somewhat inconsistent in all competitions but has looked very solid in cup games, while Arsenal have struggled in all competitions this season. Despite the arrival of Laurent Koscielny from Roma and signing of Arsenal defender Gaelic goalkeeper Petr Cech from Benfica, it appears that Atletico Madrid is more focused on adding stars to their ranks rather than finding a quality goalkeeper to replace injured stars such as Fabio Coentrana.

This summer saw them make a large investment in goalkeeper Andre Ayew whilst leaving gaping holes in their wage bill with the departures of Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba and Didier Dabalen as well as Remy.

With the release of David Beckham, Real Madrid has once again become a force to be reckoned with in both LaLiga and the Copa del este Janeiro. However, with their transfer window nearly open now and the start of the new season less than a week away, Atletico Madrid will not be rushing into a quick renovation of their team. Instead they will slowly build upon what they have got from last season, getting stronger and deeper in each position while adding quality footballers to their bench.

In truth, I would expect Atletico Madrid to do well in the next two or three seasons depending upon how well they have managed to strengthen their team so far. However, I would surely leave the season open-ended, especially seeing as Transfer Market is yet another busy month until the season starts again in April.
